The AmeriVein vein clinic offers advanced treatment for varicose veins, spider veins, and other forms of vein disease to patients throughout the west Chicago suburbs. Our vein center is headed by Dr. Greg Spitz, MD, FACS, and Dr. Jeff Braxton, MD, FACS, leaders in the development and use of advanced vein treatment techniques.
At AmeriVein's Chicago area vein center, we understand that while vein disease is a medical concern, it is a cosmetic issue as well. If varicose veins or spider veins are keeping you from enjoying life to the fullest, we encourage you to call us for a free consultation to find out how we can help you get rid of your problem veins.
Under the leadership of Dr. Spitz and Dr. Braxton, the AmeriVein vein center offers a wide range of vein treatment options tailored to meet each individual patient's needs to get rid of varicose veins, spider veins, and other forms of vein disease. In the past, invasive vein surgery known as "vein stripping" was the only option for patients seeking to get rid of veins. Today, an array of less invasive treatment options is available, allowing patients to return to their daily activities as quickly as possible. Our vein treatment options include endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), Tumescent Enhanced Sclerotherapy (TES), Trans-Illuminated Powered Phlebectomy (TIPP) using TriVex, and more.

What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins affect almost 60% of Americans, and while they can affect men, women are at a higher risk for developing varicose veins. Varicose veins, which usually are found on the legs, are enlarged, twisted, ropy or bulging veins which appear when the valves in the leg veins begin to fail, causing blood to flow backwards and build pressure on the vein wall. Varicose veins are often a symptom of a progressive, chronic disease, and often cause pain, discomfort, swelling, and inflammation. Left untreated, varicose veins often get worse and can develop into skin ulcers or blood clots. Risk factors for varicose veins include heredity, pregnancy, gender (hormones) and prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
What are spider veins?
Spider veins alone are not a medical issue like varicose veins, but they may often signal underlying vein disease and generally should be evaluated by a physician. Spider veins are commonly found on the legs and face, although they can occur elsewhere. Spider veins are simply enlarged venules (tiny veins) that are usually blue, red and web-like and appear on the surface of the skin. Although spider veins are not painful like varicose veins, they can cause embarrassment and may prevent patients from participating in activities they enjoy.

Dr. Spitz and his staff were extremely professional and accommodating. I live out of state and I was in town for a short time to include the surgery and all follow-up appointments. The office ensured I received prompt attention and scheduled all of my appointments efficiently. I recovered quickly and with little discomfort. I would definitely recommend Dr. Spitz and his amazing procedure for varicose vein removal to anyone considering this type of surgery.

I had a wonderful experience at AmeriVein Systems in Aurora, IL. My varicose veins were painful, but I didn't want the traditional surgery a few of my friends had in the past. I attended a seminar given by Dr. Spitz and Dr. Braxton and learned about the TriVex System. Immediately I made an appointment with AmeriVein Systems. I decided to have surgery and was so glad I did. I no longer have to depend on support stockings and my legs feel great.
