Orlando Vein Treatment Services
At Vascular Specialists of Central Florida, we are specialists in the treatment of vein disease. Our three conveniently-located Orlando vein treatment clinics provide a wide range of state-of-the-art alternatives to traditional vein surgery. Your care will be supervised by one of our four Board-certified vascular surgeons, Dr. Michael Jon Cohen, Dr. Charles S. Thompson, Dr. Jon M. Wesley, and Dr. Adam B. Levitt, vein doctors who will discuss your alternatives with you and tailor your treatment to your needs.
If you want to get rid of varicose veins or spider veins but have delayed treatment because you have heard stories about long recovery periods, scarring, and discomfort following invasive vein surgery, you'll be happy to learn that today you have a range of treatment options. Our Orlando vein treatment clinics offer a number of minimally-invasive ways to get rid of varicose veins and spider veins in the comfort and convenience of our clinics. Many treatments require little or no anesthesia, and often take less than an hour. They offer excellent results and quick recovery times.
The services of Vascular Specialists of Central Florida include:
Duplex Ultrasound
At our Orlando vein treatment clinics, we use non-invasive and painless duplex ultrasound to evaluate your condition. Our lab is equipped with the most advanced Philips iU22 ultrasound systems, and all studies are performed by Registered Vascular Technologists and interpreted by our physicians. We then recommend a customized treatment plan to help you get rid of varicose veins.
Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (VNUS Closure®) procedure (or RF Closure)
Our Orlando vein treatment clinic offers VNUS Closure® or RF closure (radiofrequency closure), a minimally-invasive treatment to get rid of varicose veins. In VNUS Closure®, a tiny radiofrequency catheter is inserted into the diseased vein, and delivers gentle radiofrequency energy as it is withdrawn. The vein closes, and blood is re-routed to healthy veins. VNUS Closure® is performed under local anesthesia. Recovery is generally quick, and most patients resume their regular activities within a day.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy (or Microphlebectomy)
Ambulatory phlebectomy (microphlebectomy) gets rid of varicose veins by removing short segments of the vein through very small incisions. Stitches are usually not required and scars are virtually imperceptible. Ambulatory phlebectomies, like our other vein treatments, are performed at our Orlando vein treatment centers, usually under local anesthesia. After ambulatory phlebectomy, a bandage and/or compression stocking is worn for a short period.
Sclerotherapy
In Sclerotherapy, spider veins are injected with an FDA-approved “sclerosing” agent, which causes the vein to close down and eventually be reabsorbed into the body and disappear. Sclerotherapy is highly effective, inexpensive, and less painful than many other vein treatments. Several sessions may be needed for optimal results.
Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS)
In ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy (UGS), a doctor uses ultrasound as a guide to deliver a sclerosing agent directly and accurately to the diseased vein. Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy enables doctors to use sclerotherapy on larger veins as well as small spider veins, avoiding the need for more invasive forms of vein surgery.
Vein Surgery (Stripping & Ligation)
Vein surgery (ligation and stripping) has been practiced for many years, although many newer, less invasive techniques are now the first choice of doctors and patients seeking treatments for varicose veins. However, in some unusual circumstances vein surgery may be indicated.
