Dr. Lawrence Markovitz is a highly regarded Board Certified Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon with over 18 years of clinical experience. Unlike other Washington, DC area vein doctors, Dr. Markovitz has extensive experience with surgery of the heart, blood vessels and saphenous veins. He has performed over five thousand such procedures and has found the new VNUS Closure® procedure to be a highly effective vein treatment for those patients suffering from venous insufficiency.
Dr. Markovitz trained at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently served as chief of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Midelford Clinic, a Mayo Clinic subsidiary. Dr. Markovitz relocated to the North Virginia area in 2003. Since his arrival in the area, Dr. Markovitz has been consistently recognized by Washingtonian Magazine and Consumer CheckBook as one of the area's best surgeons. Shirley Wilson, B.S., R.D.M.S., R.V.T.
Ultrasound technician Shirley Wilson, B.S., R.D.M.S., R.V.T. received her baccalaureate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from The George Washington University and has been working as a registered ultrasound technologist for over ten years. A vascular expert, Ms. Wilson has worked at many of the most highly regarded treatment facilities in the area, including The Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown Hospital. She frequently is called upon to train future sonographers and vascular technologists at area universities and medical centers.
Molly Rich, A.S., B.S., V.T.
Molly received her Bachelors degree from Pacific Union College in 1991. She has been working as a diagnostic ultrasonographer for the past decade, having spent the last four years as lead technologist of a large team specializing in venous ultrasonography and vein mapping. Molly brings great expertise to our practice and is an invaluable member of our team.
Anne Stevens, RN, BSN
Anne Stevens, RN, BSN, graduated from Towson State University in 1994. She has previously worked as a medical-surgical nurse at Alexandria Hospital and INOVA Loudoun Hospital and as a case manager for Capital Home Health Care. She has spent the past several years working for Vein Clinics of America as both a lead sclerotherapist and a sclerotherapy trainer for newly hired RNs and is considered an expert sclerotherapist by patients and colleagues alike.
Renee Lukashefski Gonzalez, RN, BSN
Renee is originally from the Northeast Pennsylvania area. She received her baccalaureate degree in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. Renee has been a clinical nurse over 10 years, practicing in the fields of surgical oncology, chemotherapy/radiation oncology, and currently works as an operating room nurse as well as sclerotherapist. She has served various clinical management roles as a nursing educator/instructor and clinical mentor within the Inova Health System. Renee is an accomplished sclerotherapist with a dedicated following. She currently resides in the Fairfax, Va. area with her husband and daughter.
