Believe it or not, the answer is yes. Constipation can actually cause you to pop a vein–you might be thinking of hemorrhoids. Those are, in fact, varicose veins of the rectum and anus. And most certainly straining to release hardened stool can put so much force on the area that it will cause veins to balloon out of shape.
