What Exactly Does ‘Minimally Invasive’ Vein Treatment Mean?

Varicose vein treatment is now widely available from vein doctors and vein specialists all over America. Most vein doctors will tell you that the vast majority of treatments are now described as ‘minimally invasive’. But what exactly does ‘minimally invasive’ mean when it comes to varicose vein treatment?
Treatments such as sclerotherapy and endovenous laser treatments can sound more involved than they actually are. Mayo Clinic says that minimally invasive means ‘a treatment that is less traumatic to the body, less blood loss, minimal surgical scars and less need for pain medication. Patients may return to normal activities sooner than with conventional surgeries’. That is good news for patients needing varicose vein treatment. No longer are your options for active, effective treatment limited to surgeries such as vein stripping and ligation, as they were just a decade or two ago. Now, you are lucky to have an array of minimally invasive treatment options available. What’s even more minimal is your overall vein treatment experience in that you experience less pain, less inconvenience and less recovery time than procedures in years past.
As always, if you have varicose veins and are looking into vein treatment options, check with your doctor to see which treatment is best for you.

The current ‘minimally invasive’ vein treatments use no stitches and there is no scarring. No surgical incisions either – just a small nick about the size of a pencil tip.
The majority of our patients can walk out of the clinic only an hour or so after their treatments.
