Qualified vein doctors can be certified in different specialties


When you search for a qualified vein doctor, you want to know that person’s credentials are official and reliable.  Unlike in the early 1900s when all someone who wanted to become a doctor had to do was answer some questions in front of a panel, today’s requirements are much stricter.  So one of the best ways to make certain you’re getting an expert is to find out what certification(s) he or she holds.

Phlebology is the area of scientific expertise that has to do with the study of veins and their diseases.  But official certification in that specialty has only been available for vein doctors for the past couple of years.  Doctors practicing several other specialties will many times have the necessary background for effective vein treatment.

Many expert vein doctors have backgrounds in other types of medicine besides Phlebology.  These specialties might include vascular surgery (using operative means to work on blood vessels), interventional radiology (using image guidance methods to gain access to vessels and organs), and even sometimes general surgery.
