Today your varicose veins can be fixed in a vein clinic rather than at a hospital. Unlike twenty or even ten years ago, you have many choices today. You no longer need to undergo vein stripping, which is major surgery—with all the potential pain, side effects, and complications. Today’s procedures are much simpler, and a good vein clinic can offer you all the latest options. Current minimally invasive procedures include ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy for spider veins and endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) for varicose veins. But which vein clinics are reputable and how would the average person know? › Continue reading
The vast majority of cases that reputable vein clinics treat involve varicose or spider veins. Though varicosities can occur in other places on the body, doctors practicing in a vein clinic most often see patients with vein problems related to the legs and ankles. › Continue reading
What does a vein doctor know that we don’t? Many people argue about what really causes varicose veins. It’s a common discussion, especially among women who have them. But generally the controversies arise because most of us aren’t vein doctors. We may not be familiar with vein treatments available to address these conditions which can often be serious — not just cosmetic.
Some believe that sitting the wrong way or crossing your legs can cause varicose veins. Others argue that lack of exercise will foster the formation of varicose and spider veins. How about wearing high heels? What about being overweight? Standing for long periods of time on the job? What would the vein doctor say about all of this – myth or fact? › Continue reading

You’re not alone. It’s perfectly reasonable to research the procedures available to treat varicose veins. If simple diet, exercise changes or possibly compression stockings don’t do the trick, here are some options…
There is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about varicose veins among the public. Below we address some of the common misconceptions:
Any flaw in a leg is a varicose vein Not true. Most people think any discoloration or bump on the legs is a varicose vein. And it can certainly be confusing. Spider veins can be completely unrelated to sun exposure, however, so if you have spider veins already, they may well not have been caused by too much fun in the sun. › Continue reading
